Shawn Hack joined the car rental industry in 2001 after serving in the United States Marine Corps. His first job in the industry was as a car washer for the Alamo local market. Within 6 months Shawn ran his own location until the shutdown of all West Coast locations after 9/11. He then opened an office for South West Car Rental, an independent company. Shawn moved on to leading an Advantage Rent A Car local market branch, the San Diego Airport, and finally landed as District Manager in Orange County. In 2007 Shawn returned to San Diego Airport to run a rental car location with an independent company. In 2009 he joined a Payless Car Rental franchise location, working directly for the Owner. Over the past 16 years with Payless San Diego, Shawn has overseen all areas of operations, accounting, legal, human resources, fleet purchasing, fleet sales, training and development, real estate, claims, and pricing; you name it, Shawn’s done it, doing it, or forgot more about it than most people will ever know.

Shawn is married with 4 kids and 2 grandkids In his free time, he has no free time. In addition to volunteering at his daughter's elementary school, his oldest son's JROTC, and on the cluster group for the Point Loma school district, Shawn serves as the Unit Commander for the Miramar Young Marines, a youth organization for young men similar to the Boy Scouts. While at work, Shawn runs a "for-profit" business, but when away from work, he runs a non-profit. Shawn finds both roles rewarding and is never bored.
