Sharky Laguana
Sharky Laguana is the president of the American Car Rental Association (ACRA), the representative for over 98% of the U.S. car rental industry. Sharky has served on the board of directors since 2017 and was elected president of ACRA in 2020. Sharky is also the CEO and founder of Bandago, a van rental company specializing in renting vans to touring musicians.
In 2019, Mayor London Breed appointed Sharky to the San Francisco Small Business Commission. Sharky was elected and re-elected as commission president until reaching the end of his term in 2023. In 2020, Mayor Breed appointed him to the Economic Recovery Task Force where he helped lead legislative efforts to support local small businesses throughout the pandemic. In 2023, Mayor Breed appointed Sharky to the Homeless Oversight Commission, which has oversight over the Department of Homeless and Supportive Housing, with $700M in annual spending. In 2024 Sharky was appointed by Transportation Secretary Buttigieg and Energy Secretary Granholm to the Electric Vehicle Working Group, which is advising the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation on the nation's adoption and development of Electric Vehicles.
