Prof. Lisa Lazard (PhD)

Professor & Psychologist | The Open University

Professor, Dr Lisa Lazard is an award-winning psychologist recognized across the United Kingdom as an expert in understanding gender and power dynamics in online and offline life, particularly in organizational contexts.

She currently leads four European nations (Germany, Iceland, Spain and the United Kingdom) on a European Union- funded research project that is centered on understanding the Gender dynamics of online meetings. A key aim of this project is to build new transnational data on ways in which digital videoconferencing innovations can either encourage or inhibit gender equity in the workplace. Professor Lazard is leading the development evidence-based guidelines to help meet their organizational objectives around inclusion.

As a consultant adviser to the British parliament, Professor Lazard has developed training programs and policies on managing conflict and creating cultures of respect and dignity in organizations. She has also contributed to expert consultations commissioned by His Majesty’s Government Home Office on dealing with violence against women and girls.

Professor Lazard is a regular BBC commentator who has been featured as “expert commentator” on multiple BBC programmes such as: Are You Sharing Too Much Online? – a programme on digital privacy and parenting and the BBC Inside Out Documentary on the impact of being a social media influencer.

She is widely published and is the author of book and book chapters such Saying it like it is? Sexual Harassment, Labelling and #MeToo (2024); The psychology of Sexual Harassment (2021) and Sexual Harassment, Psychology & Feminism (2020).She is also a former Chair for the Psychology of Women & Equalities Section of the British Psychological Society.

She is a senior academic currently based at The Open University where she has served terms as Head of Discipline in the School of Psychology & Counselling and Qualification Director for major undergraduate courses.
